ABOUT THE CONDUCTOR: Along with regular engagements in the mid-Atlantic, Michael Repper’s international credits include a recent debut with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra in Brazil, the Artes Nazionale Orchestra in Florence, Italy, and Wollongong, Australia. He regularly conducts the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and has been invited several times to conduct the St. Louis Symphony and other major professional orchestras. He is an avid pianist, having performed several times alongside his own orchestras while conducting from the piano. Mike is the Music Director of the Northern Neck Orchestra in Virginia and served as Assistant Conductor of the Concert Artists of Baltimore for five years. Michael enjoys a full schedule of guest conducting, most recently premiering a concert of new music with the Grammy-Nominated Metropolis Ensemble, and leading the NY-based ensemble Camerata Notturna.

The Hippodrome Theatre In Baltimore
Welcome to the home of NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet in Baltimore! The Hippodrome Theatre, now a part of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, which first opened its doors in 1914 as a movie palace. Vaudeville performances were held there, too, featuring such legends as Red Skelton and Benny Goodman. The building underwent renovations in the early 1960s, reopening with the regional premiere of the film Cleopatra. The theater was closed for a short time in the 1990s, as the venue’s popularity waned. Today, the Hippodrome has regained its popularity and regularly hosts a variety of events, from Broadway productions to concerts to comedy shows.

Nutcracker wouldn’t be Nutcracker without the local Children’s cast! Dancing along side the full international professional cast are local Baltimore children from Anna Apicella School of Dance. “Celebrating 48 years, dance for ages 2 years through adult classes in Ballet, Tap, Hip-hop, PreBallet and Creative movement for boys and girls with an annual recital every June. Small classes are taught by Ms. Anna Apicella. This small school provides exclusively individual attention and parents are always welcome to watch. This school specializes in giving all students a chance to shine!”
