The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville
Welcome to the home of NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet in Charlottesville: The Paramount Theater! The Paramount Theater, originally a movie palace that opened in 1931, once hosted films, war bond drives, fashion shows, cartoons for kids, and musical artists, before closing its doors in 1974. Thanks to the diligence of those in the greater Charlottesville region, the theater was saved from threats of demolition, instead undergoing renovations before reopening in 2004. It now presents a variety of arts, education, and entertainment events, such as London’s National Theatre, The Lyric Opera Virginia, comedians, musicians, and more.

Charlottesville Partner Ballet Studio: BalletSchool
Nutcracker wouldn’t be Nutcracker without the local Children’s cast! Dancing along side the full international professional cast are local Charlottesville children from BalletSchool. BalletSchool was founded in 1997 and provides ballet classes with professional instruction. The emphasis is on proper technique and performance style in accordance with each student’s stage of development. The method caters to any student – whether they are considering dance as a career or just for enjoyment. Subjects included in each class level are ballet, character and free-movement. The studio also offers HipHop, Jazz, Modern, Contemporary and Tap classes for all ages. In order to promote a healthy mind and body, the studio provides a positive environment for all dancers to enjoy and reach his or her highest potential.
